Hi, we are Eva & Gernot, founders of POP EYES eyewear.
You may ask yourself why there is just another ski googles and sunglasses brand on the market! Well, why not? That's what we've asked ourselves!
As it happens, Gernot has been working in the sports industry for more than 25 years – the last few years as global managing director at a leading helmet, ski goggles and sunglasses brand. Eva on the other hand has been running her own design studio Honigbrot GrafikDesign since 2014 and thus contributes with the necessary design know-how.
Therefore, it was kind of obvious that we wanted to team up not only privately but also professionally:
In 2019 dreams became concrete plans and we decided to pool our experiences and let them flow into our own eyewear brand.
Voilà: POP EYES was born!
Hi there, i'm Gernot!
My entire professional life is affected by the sports industry. After several positions in sales and in product management at a leading sporting goods manufacturer in Altenmarkt im Pongau, I took over the marketing management for an Austrian motorcycle brand. For last couple of years, I worked as global managing director for a leading eyewear and sporting goods brand.
My areas of responsibility at POP EYES includes product development, procurement and sales of products, logistics tasks as well as finance and controlling.
My spare time is all about sports and family. In winter, I love skiing and skitouring and in summer water sports, biking and tennis.
Hi, i'M Eva!
At POP EYES, I am responsible for the entire creative process: from developing a new sunglasses or ski goggles collection to packaging design, advertising and social media. I love developing creative designs and solutions – be it for our collection in the shops or individual models for our major customers.
I found my dream job as a graphic designer via detours: I first studied business psychology in Salzburg and London and then worked for 15 years as a sales trainer at a large bank in Salzburg. As the desire to work in a more creative field grew more and more, I attended a Graphic Design College and founded my own graphic design studio "Honigbrot GrafikDesign".
In my spare time, i love doing sports: I have been on skis (almost) since I can walk, have been a certified snowboard teacher, love tennis and mountain biking, do yoga every day and discovered surfing in summer 2019 (my skills are definitely still expandable, but it's just so much fun :-).
I am also fascinated by foreign countries and cultures. My three favourite places in the world are London, Canggu in Bali and Corralejo in Fuerteventura. That's it!
