FAQS about POPWEAR ski gloves
Mittens are generally warmer than five-finger gloves because the fingers share the same compartment and help warm one another. For particularly cold winter days, we recommend MIKKA, our ultra-warm ski mitten with a cosy teddy-fleece lining and a HIPORA® membrane with a 10,000 mm waterproof rating.
Mittens are usually warmer, while five-finger gloves offer greater freedom of movement and a more direct grip. If you quickly get cold hands, a mitten such as MIKKA or MARLEY is the best choice. For sporty skiers, a five-finger glove such as CHARLIE is ideal.
A five-finger glove with plenty of freedom of movement and secure grip is ideal for sporty skiers. CHARLIE features a palm made from soft hairsheep leather for a natural, responsive grip on the ski pole. Its removable polar-fleece inner glove allows you to adjust the level of warmth to the weather and your activity and can also be worn separately.
Children’s ski gloves should be warm, comfortable and provide reliable protection from snow and moisture. MARLEY Kids combines 100 g Thinsulate™ C100 insulation with a soft tricot lining and a membrane with a 10,000 mm waterproof rating. The mitten shape also helps keep little hands comfortably warm.
The right choice mainly depends on your preferred level of warmth and how you plan to use your gloves:
- MIKKA: Ultra-warm mitten with teddy fleece for freezing winter days
- CHARLIE: Sporty 2-in-1 five-finger glove with a removable polar-fleece inner glove
- MARLEY: Warm and comfortable all-round mitten
- MARLEY Kids: Warm mitten specially designed for children
In short: MIKKA provides maximum warmth, CHARLIE offers sporty freedom of movement, MARLEY is a reliable companion for long days on the slopes and MARLEY Kids keeps little snow pros warm.
The waterproof rating indicates how much water pressure a material can withstand before moisture penetrates it. A rating of 10,000 mm provides reliable protection for skiing, snowboarding and other activities in the snow.
Breathable materials and membranes allow excess heat and moisture vapour to escape. This creates a more comfortable climate inside the glove and helps your hands feel less damp during physical activity.
Ski gloves should be neither too tight nor noticeably too large. A little space around the fingers helps create an insulating layer of air. At the same time, the glove should fit securely and must not slip when holding a ski pole.
Allow wet ski gloves to dry completely at room temperature. Do not place them directly on a radiator or use a hot hairdryer, as excessive heat can damage the membrane, leather and other materials. With CHARLIE, the polar-fleece inner glove can be removed so that both parts dry more quickly.
This depends on the materials and construction of the individual model, so always follow the care label. If machine washing is permitted, close all fastenings, use a gentle cycle and avoid fabric softener. Allow the gloves to air-dry and do not place them in a tumble dryer.
